The same old Jeremy - Mirror Politics morning newsletter

Morning,

The reconciliation process has begun.
Assured of victory when the leadership result is announced on Saturday, Jeremy Corbyn has started to reach out to disaffected MPs.
He will still be the same Jeremy Corbyn, he said, but the “slate will be wiped clean.”
The annual conference in Liverpool will be a “turning point,” he added.
“We owe it to the millions of people Labour exists to represent to end the sniping and personal attacks, and work together for all those who depend on the election of a Labour government. Anything else would be destructive self-indulgence,” he said yesterday.
Mr Corbyn may want to reach out but it is not clear if the offer will be reciprocated.
Opponents will need convincing that the Labour leader is genuine in his wish to collaborate with the Parliamentary Party.
Their loyalty is being tested by political realities.
Some will put on a show of solidarity up to the point where their interest in personal survival takes precedent.
As we note here the divisions within Labour run deep and will not be resolved by the counting of the ballot papers.
The Labour leader has a point that his campaign has energised people who were previously politically lethargic.
And his opponents cannot ignore the mandate provided by several hundred thousand party members.
This will be the second time Mr Corbyn has been elected by a convincing margin yet some MPs remain incurious as to why people are voting for him in such large numbers.

The prize for the most ironic statement of the week goes to Andrew Lansley.
The former Tory Health Secretary says the NHS desperately needs more cash and has called for a £5billion “Brexit bonus.”
You may wish to question if the Conservatives are being sincere when they tell you the NHS has the funding it needs.
Labour MP Luciana Berger today reveals that more than half of clinical commissioning groups (organisations set up by Lansley) are planning to cut their budgets for mental health services this financial year.
This is despite a pledge by the current Health Secretary to increase funding for mental health.
