Speaking of Jeremy Corbyn - Mirror Politics morning newsletter

Morning,

Jeremy Corbyn would never pretend he is the greatest public speaker.
He has a tendency to stress the wrong phrase and his speeches can be a dogmatic list of demands rather than finely-tuned oratory.
But he can show real passion, especially when he marshals his indignity at injustice and desire for equality into a single crusading message.
What we will see when he delivers his leader's speech today is genuine Jeremy.
And that is probably for the good.
His authenticity is part of his appeal as is his refusal to conform to modern political orthodoxies.
So while the delivery of the speech will be of lesser importance, the content will be crucial.

The challenge for Corbyn today is show he can unite the party, answer those critics who claim he cannot win power and begin the process of proving he is a Prime Minister in waiting.
Labour MPs will want to see he is sincere about reaching out, while he will want to repay the faith of the 319,000 party members and affiliates who voted for him.
Mr Corbyn must somehow square these somewhat contradictory demands.
His first year as leader was dogged by the difficulty of reconciling his strongly-held beliefs with the counter demands of his parliamentary party.
This resulted in Labour having to contort itself on issues such as Trident.
There are signs the party is already becoming entangled in an equally divisive row over migration.
The briefing from the leader's office over night that Corbyn is not concerned about immigration numbers came as Andy Burnham, who also speaks today, warned millions of lifelong supporters could leave unless Labour toughens its line of immigration.
Underlying this debate is the tension between the liberal, metropolitan wing of the Labour Party and its northern traditional heartlands.

Mr Corbyn speaks shortly after 2pm. As usual we will be running a live blog on the speech, followed by instant analysis and commentary.
